How to Integrate Qontak with Whatsapp API

On Qontak Omnichannel, users with the Admin role can integrate their Qontak account with WhatsApp through the Channel Integration menu. Through this menu, you can create a Facebook Business Manager account (or Meta Business Account) and then integrate Qontak with the WhatsApp Business API (WABA) from a previously verified Facebook Business Manager.

Important
Starting August 20, 2025, all new WABA registrations through Qontak will be automatically integrated with the Marketing Messages API (MM API) for marketing campaign delivery.
WhatsApp accounts connected to Qontak before the above period can be integrated into the MM API through two methods: 
Method 1: Invitation through the “Request” menu in the Facebook Business Manager (FBBM) application
- You can directly click the following link: https://business.facebook.com/latest/settings/requests.


- You can also access the Request page in Facebook Business Manager by following these steps:
1. Log in to your Facebook Business Manager account .
2. Select the Settings menu.

3. Then, click on the Requests tab. You can click “Review” to begin the migration to the MM API. Learn more here.

Method 2: The Marketing template detail page in WhatsApp Manager
1. Go to the detail page of any template under the “Marketing” category in your WhatsApp Manager account.
2. If you have not migrated to MM API, you will see a banner like the one below. You can click “Accept terms to get started” to begin the migration to the MM API. Learn more here.

Below are the steps to integrate Qontak with the WhatsApp API, whether you do not yet have or already have a Meta Business Account & WhatsApp Business Profile. If you do not yet have an account, Facebook will automatically detect this and direct you to create a Meta and WhatsApp Business Account.

A. Do Not Yet Have a Meta Business Account & WhatsApp Business Profile

For those of you who want to integrate WhatsApp with Qontak but do not yet have a Meta Business Account and WhatsApp Business Profile, please follow the steps below.

  1. Click the Channel Integration menu.
  2. Then select WhatsApp.

  3. Click “Add WhatsApp”.

  4. A Facebook login pop-up will appear. Enter your Facebook email/phone number and password, then click “Log in”.

  5. Next, a confirmation from Facebook will appear. Click “Continue as (your account name)”.
  6. PIn this section, you can read the Terms and Conditions for integrating WhatsApp with Qontak. Click “Continue” to proceed.

    - By continuing, you agree to the terms related to Meta Hosting for Cloud API, Meta WhatsApp Business Terms, Meta Business Tools Terms, and Marketing Messages API Terms of Service.
    - An Ads account will be automatically created with Read-only status after the registration process is completed.

  7. Next, you will be directed to create a new Business Portfolio by filling in the Business name, Business email address, and Business Website or profile page (optional) fields.

    Check the checkbox below if you do not have a website or profile page. Before you can start sending messages, Qontak.com needs to verify your business. You will receive an email once this process is complete.

  8. In the next step, please select the Country. You can also add address information, if available (optional).

    Below is an example of the additional address fields that you can optionally fill in.

     

  9. Then, click “Next” to create a WhatsApp Business account and WhatsApp Business profile. You can check the checkbox on the following screen if you want to instruct Meta to automatically detect order and lead activities. After that, click “Next” to continue.

  10. Enter your company or brand name in the WhatsApp business account name and WhatsApp business display name fields, then select the Category according to your company or brand entity, and click “Next”.

    You are not allowed to use names and/or acronyms related to Meta such as FB, IG, WA, Messenger, and others in your Display Name.

  11. Next, you can choose “Add a new number” by entering your phone number in the Phone number field.

  12. Then select the ‘Text message’ or ‘Phone call’ option to receive the OTP verification code, and click “Next”.

  13. Enter the code you receive via Text Message (SMS) / Phone Call (Mobile Phone) and click “Next”, as shown below.

  14. After that, a screen will appear indicating that your number is currently in the verification process.

  15. You will be directed to the next page to review a summary of the data that you will share with Qontak.com. Click “Confirm”.

  16. Please wait until the process is complete and do not close this page.

  17. Click “Finish” to complete the registration process on the Meta pop-up page.

    Important
    Before continuing the process of connecting the WhatsApp Business API in Qontak, you need to open a new tab and log in to your Meta Business Suite account (or visit the following link: https://business.facebook.com/latest/settings/whatsapp_account) to ensure that the Currency is set to IDR. If not, you can change the Currency via the “Settings” page, click “Accounts”, select the “WhatsApp accounts” submenu, and click “Edit” to update the selected WhatsApp account data.

    - If your WhatsApp account does not appear yet, you can refresh the page first.
    - Then, in the Currency section, select “IDR”, and click “Confirm” to save the changes.
     

  18. Select the WhatsApp Business Account and Phone Number that you have created and verified, then click “Connect” to complete the registration process.
     

  19. After that, you will be able to see your number connected to Qontak on the following page. You can then use this number to receive and reply to messages, as well as send Campaign.

  20. The Ads account will be automatically created by Meta with Read-only status, in accordance with the Terms & Conditions information mentioned in point number 6 above.

B. Already Have a Meta Business Account & WhatsApp Business Profile

  1. Click the Channel Integration menu.
  2. Then select WhatsApp.

  3. Click “Add WhatsApp”.
  4. A Facebook login pop-up will appear. Enter your Facebook email/phone number and password, then click “Log in”.

  5. Next, a confirmation from Facebook will appear. Click “Continue as (your account name)”.

  6. In this section, you can read the Terms and Conditions for integrating WhatsApp with Qontak. Click “Continue” to proceed.

  7. If you already have a verified Facebook Business Manager account, please select your account in the Business Portfolio field. After that, the Business Name and Country fields will be filled in automatically. Click “Next” to continue.

    Check the checkbox below if you do not have a website or profile page. Before you can start sending messages, Qontak.com needs to verify your business. You will receive an email once this process is complete.

  8. Next, you can create or select an existing WhatsApp Business account and WhatsApp Business profile. You can toggle the checkbox on the following screen to instruct Meta to automatically detect order and lead activities. After that, click “Next” to continue.

  9. Enter your company or brand name in the WhatsApp business account name and WhatsApp business display name fields, then select the Category according to your company or brand entity, and click “Next”.
