After configuring the CAPI use case in Mekari Qontak, you need to set up ads in Meta Ads Manager so that the events sent can be used as conversion data. In this guide, you will learn the steps to set up your ads, from determining the performance goal to selecting the appropriate Data Set and conversion event.

A. Configuring Meta Ads for CAPI

  1. Create a new campaign in “Meta Ads Manager.”
  2. Select “Sales” as the campaign objective.
  3. At the “Ads Set” level, select the performance goal “Maximize number of conversions” (Maximize number of conversions).

If you select the performance goal “Maximize number of conversations,” the “Conversions” option will not appear in the next step.

  4. In the “Conversions” section, select the “Data Set (Pixel)” that is the same as the one you configured in the use case in Mekari Qontak. Make sure that the selected Pixel ID matches the Pixel ID in Mekari Qontak, rather than selecting it based only on the Pixel name. Then, select the conversion event that is the same as the event sent by Mekari Qontak. If your use case sends the event Purchase, select “Purchase.”

B. Ensure Everything Matches Before Publishing the Ad

Before publishing the ad, make sure the following three settings match between Mekari Qontak and Meta Ads Manager.

No.What Must MatchIn Mekari QontakIn Meta Ads Manager
1Pixel IDPixel in the CAPI use caseData Set in the “Conversions” section
2Conversion event Standard Event in the use case Conversion event in the “Ads Set”
3WhatsApp numberNumber active in QontakDestination number in the “Ads Set”

Important
All three settings must match. If any one of them does not match, conversions will not be recorded in your campaign report.

C. Mistakes to Avoid When Configuring Meta Ads

  • Selecting an performance goal that does not match. The difference between conversions and conversations can affect the conversion settings available in the next step.

  • Selecting a Pixel based on its name. If you have multiple Pixels with similar names, use the Pixel ID to make sure the selected Pixel is the correct one.

  • Selecting a different event. Make sure the event selected in the Ads Set matches the event sent by Mekari Qontak. For example, if Mekari Qontak sends Purchase, select the corresponding event so that the conversion can be attributed to the campaign.

  • Using a WhatsApp number that is not connected to Qontak. Make sure the WhatsApp number in the Ads Set is connected to Qontak. Otherwise, conversations will go to the regular WhatsApp application and the event cannot be sent through the Qontak system.

Important
If a particular event has never been sent, Meta may display the status “Inactive” because there has not been any recent activity for that event. You can still select that event as the conversion event.

The “Inactive” status will change after Meta receives the first event. This condition is common during the initial configuration and does not indicate an error.

D. When to Evaluate Ad Performance

After the ad is published and events begin to be sent, allow sufficient time before evaluating performance. Use the following stages as a reference:

  • 1–2 days — make sure the event has been sent correctly.

  • 7 days — allow time for the learning phase and avoid making changes to the ad.

  • 14 days — there should be enough data to compare performance across ads.

This concludes the explanation of how to set up Meta ads to connect with CAPI.
