Each Qontak company has one Account Owner in Mekari Account (SSO). The Account Owner will receive all system notifications, including information related to billing, upgrades, renewals, and feature access.
Generally, to transfer account ownership to someone else, you need to invite that person to Qontak and then transfer account ownership to them. However, if the user quota is full, you cannot invite a new Account Owner. In addition, the current Account Owner cannot be deleted while they still have that role.
As a solution, you need to transfer account ownership to a temporary Account Owner first. After that, you can delete the old Account Owner to free up a user slot, invite the new Account Owner, and then transfer account ownership back to the new Account Owner.
| Stage | Action required | Performed by |
| 1 | Transfer Qontak ownership to the temporary Account Owner. | Current Account Owner |
| 2 | Log in to the account using the temporary Account Owner's email. | Temporary Account Owner |
| 3 | Delete the old Account Owner, then invite the new Account Owner to Qontak. | Temporary Account Owner |
| 4 | Transfer Qontak ownership to the new Account Owner. | Temporary Account Owner |
Important
- The temporary Account Owner must be a Qontak user who is already registered under the same company and whose email has been verified in Mekari Account. For example, a Supervisor or Admin who will continue using the account.
- Only the current Account Owner can initiate the first ownership transfer. This process cannot be performed by another user.
- Each ownership transfer is permanent and cannot be undone. Make sure the selected email address is correct before confirming.
- Deleting the old Account Owner will remove their access to Qontak. Make sure any data or conversations still being handled by the old Account Owner have been transferred first.
A. How to Transfer Ownership to the Temporary Account Owner
Log in to your Mekari account. Then select the Company menu.
-
Then, in the Account owners section, select “Transfer ownership”.
Ownership is transferred separately for each product. This guide only changes the Account Owner for Qontak. Other Mekari products will continue using the currently assigned Account Owner.
- Next, select the temporary Account Owner from the New account owner list. Only users registered in Qontak whose email has been verified will be displayed in this list.
- Then select “Transfer ownership”.
- The system will then send an OTP to your email. Check your email, then copy the OTP code into the field below.
- After the transfer is successful, the product's ownership will immediately be transferred to the new account owner.
- Next, all users (the previous account owner and the new account owner) will receive the following notification by email. Then click “Open Launchpad” to continue.
B. How to Delete the Old Account Owner and Invite the New Account Owner
Make sure you are still logged in as the temporary Account Owner, then open Qontak through Launchpad.
- Open the User management page in Qontak.
- Qontak One: https://launchpad.qontak.com/user_management/users
- Non-Qontak One:
-
Find the old Account Owner, then delete the user by clicking “Actions” and selecting “Delete”. This action will free up one user slot in your quota.
(Example of the Users page display in Qontak One)
A confirmation pop-up for deleting the user will then appear. In the pop-up, you can select the team member who will receive the data from the user being deleted. All data will be transferred, except chat. Bot flows and AI agents associated with that user may need to be adjusted. After selecting a team member in the Transfer to field, click “Delete user & transfer data” to delete the user and transfer their data.
-
Next, select “Invite user” (Qontak One) or “Add new user” (Qontak Chat).
(Example of the Users page display in Qontak One)
Then complete the new Account Owner's information. Assign the appropriate role, then click “Invite user”.
-
Ask the new Account Owner to open the invitation email, accept the invitation, and complete the registration process so that their email address is verified in Mekari Account.
The new Account Owner will not appear in the New account owner list until they accept the invitation and verify their email address. If the invitation cannot be found, ask the new Account Owner to check their spam folder or resend the invitation.
C. How to Log In Using the Temporary Owner's Email
Log out of the old owner's account.
Then, log in to Mekari Account using the temporary owner's email. You can also open the notification email as described in section A. How to Transfer Ownership to the Temporary Account Owner, then select "Open Launchpad".
Open the Company menu, then make sure the temporary owner is displayed as the Account Owner for Qontak.
D. How to Transfer Ownership to the New Owner
Make sure you are still logged in as the temporary owner, then repeat the ownership transfer steps. See section A. How to Transfer Ownership to the Temporary Account Owner.
- Log in to your Mekari account. Then select the Company menu.
In the Account Owner section, find the Qontak row, then select "Transfer ownership".
Select the new owner from the New account owner list, then select "Transfer ownership".
Enter the OTP code sent to the temporary owner's email, then select “Verify”.
-
After the process is successful, the new owner will become the Qontak Account Owner. The temporary owner and the new owner will receive notification emails.
After the ownership transfer, the temporary owner will remain registered in Qontak as a regular user with their previous role. No further action is required unless you want to change their role.
This concludes the explanation of how to change the Qontak Account Owner when the user quota is full.
